The MHL Senate is one of the central organs of the University of Music. It advises on matters of research, teaching and study that affect the entire university and are of fundamental importance. It supervises the management of the Presidium, insofar as this is not the task of the University Council and is responsible, among other things, for
- Adopting resolutions on the constitution,
- electing and voting out members of the Presidential Board,
- passing resolutions on the budget,
- adopting resolutions on the university's structural and development plan,
- issuing statements prior to the conclusion of target and performance agreements,
- Statements and proposals on the establishment, modification and discontinuation of study programmes,
- Opinions on appointment proposals and decisions of fundamental importance in matters concerning the promotion of young academics and artists,
- commenting on examination regulations prior to their approval by the Presidential Board,
- issuing examination regulations,
- issuing interdisciplinary regulations for examinations,
- the enactment of principles for doctoral regulations and
- for resolutions on the principles for the distribution of financial and material resources as well as staffing, including the associated statutes.
The Senate is made up of 13 representatives of the University of G?ttingen, who are elected by the Presidential Board. The Senate consists of 13 representatives of the MHL member groups, including 7 professors, 2 lecturers or academic staff, 2 students and 2 non-academic staff.
