Vocals
The degree programme is designed for candidate students wishing to pursue a career as professional vocalists. Students will have fundamental knowledge of music theory and basic piano skills and already have developed their vocal skills through training. The respective study requirements are to be demonstrated at an audition.
In terms of the main and musical practice modules, the degree programme places a clear focus on vocal performance ability. Following completion of the musical practice, musicology/music theory and tuition modules, as of the fifth semester students select a profile. Accordingly, the profiles allow for individual focus to be centred on musical practice, vocal pedagogy or musicology/music theory.
Graduates are able to take an active part in the world of professional music, possessing fundamental knowledge of musicology, music theory, music education and didactics to enable reflection and mediation of their own practical music performance.
In addition to the individual vocalist qualification, MHL considers stage presentation training to be indispensable for all professional vocalist occupations. Whether in music theatre, on the concert stage or in vocal pedagogy, graduates require drama skills. Acting and music theatre tuition is therefore incorporated in the initial musical practice modules. If the 'Vocal stage performance' profile is selected, this focus is sustained until the completion of studies and concludes with a module examination in a music theatre production. By selecting the instrumental and vocal pedagogy profile (IGP), an additional professional qualification can be acquired.
Cooperation programmes with various theatres offer students regular opportunities for auditions, which generate feedback for the students from professional performers. Other cooperation initiatives (e.g. with KUB in Bad Oldesloe) also provide platforms for dramatic productions outside of MHL. Cooperation with the St. Jakobi parish in 明升m88体育_明升体育官网-在线|平台 also provides the opportunity for regular oratorical performances.
