The program "Musical Practice" with the degree Bachelor of Music comprises an artistic education over 8 semesters in several specialized disciplines:
The aim of the program is the best development of the artist's personality, characterized by the consideration of the individual ability of students. After the basic introductory courses in the first year, mentors are assigned to each student who present their individual recommendations: in regard to the selection of a study profile and the choice of electives. Classes in the profile area remain consistently in focus. According to the diverse career options, students must choose their profile during the course of their study and deepen or acquire basic skills in other profiles of importance. The focus can be expanded through the appropriate elective elements. As compulsory elective modules, MHL provides the following major areas of study:
- Musical Practice for Instrumentalists (early music / contemporary music / chamber music / orchestra placement)
- Musical Practice for Singers (musical theater / opera and oratorio projects)
- Conducting
- Popular music / World Music / Jazz (in theory and practice)
- Classical Musicology
- Instrumental or Vocal Pedagogy
In addition, the large range of MHL electives allows for further specialization.
