The Rectors' Conference of the German Universities of Music (RKM), in cooperation with the prize-giving associations Bundesverband Musikunterricht (BMU) and Verband deutscher Musikschulen (VdM), announces the University Competition for Music Education. In this way, the RKM draws public attention to the importance of musical education. At the same time, the German music colleges express their commitment to music education and their claim to excellence in teacher training and artistic-pedagogical study programmes. The diversity and attractiveness of both areas should be made visible and brought to the fore. The University Music Education Competition rewards outstanding independent music education work. The topics can be chosen from the entire spectrum of the fields of activity and tasks represented in the degree programmes. For example, it can be an artistic-pedagogical project, a music education initiative, a research-oriented study, a best-practice presentation or a special series of lessons.
