At MHL, the subjects of musicology, music education, music theory, are academically researched intensely. With Brahms Institute as an "An-Institute" The MHL also has an internationally renowned research institute with a major collection of source materials. As part of the doctoral procedure, the doctoral degree can be obtained in these three subjects. Numerous research projects contribute to the interdisciplinary scientific profile formation of the university. Of course, MHL committed itself to comply with the Guidelines of Good Scientific Practice. The results of the research are presented at regular public international symposia, publications, exhibitions and catalogs.
